Love Like Jackson is a work of heart created by Jackson and Ivan’s mom, Carrie Schmitt. After the very unexpected death of Jackson, Ivan started experiencing significant anxiety and Carrie wanted to help Ivan. They were fortunate enough to find a wonderful organization that offered support for families whose child had cancer. Carrie wants to extend these types of services to families whose loss may not fall in to that category. She hopes that by providing these services, families can feel less alone after their world got flipped upside down by the loss of their precious child.
Our Mission
At Love Like Jackson, we honor the life and legacy of Jackson by bringing hope, healing and community to families navigating the devastating loss of a child. We provide grief resources, fund therapy for siblings and create spaces where families feel seen, supported and never alone. Our mission is to ensure no grieving child or parent is forgotten, and that love continues to carry them through their journey.
Our History
Love Like Jackson was established after the death of Ivan’s big brother, Jackson. Play therapy was pivotal in Ivan’s life after his family was devastated by the loss of Jackson. Jackson and Ivan’s mommy wanted to make therapy available to children whose lives have been turned upside down by the devastating loss of a sibling.
